Description
KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital
Last year, Sept 2021, I checked in to KKH early morning. I had the privilege of walking to Operating Theatre 7 on my own, without wheelchair. The OT looks like a set from Grey’s Anatomy or the like. 😅 45 fibroids, of a total size of about 22.7cm x 10.5cm x 20.3cm were removed, leaving an external wound of about 15cm across my belly. Prof Jerry Chan meticulously took out each fibroid without blood transfusion. The nurses and hospital staff took very good care of me.
3 months before my surgery, my red blood cells were very small, MCV(NHGD) was 68.8 when the healthy range is 83-98. My haemoglobin was 11.5, normal range is 11.8-14.6. My blood pressure was below 90/60. After the scans and tests I was referred to KKH and surgery was scheduled 3 months after.
I was discharged on the 4th day after surgery as hospitals ain’t the safest place for recovery due to COVID. A HUGE THANK YOU to family and friends who prayed and took care of me this whole period. ❤
2nd week into my recovery, I committed myself to do a daily sketch journal for 14 days. It’s the only thing that I can do without exerting myself. On the 14th day, I was at Papa Khoo’s home and I sketched his chickens who just laid their 5th egg. Papa encouraged me to share and sell my sketches. I decided to start by sharing and did not expect such encouraging response. I am still walking this journey right now.
God used a challenging episode to bring out new life for me. I am believing for John 3:38 “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” to be real in my life. That living waters will flow out of this healing of my belly and that the living water will also flow through my sketches to many.
