Jerusalem East Gate. 2016.
I miss Israel where I visited annually before the pandemic. Decided to sketch a portion of the old city that is not as touristy popular like the wailing wall. This is the East Gate of the Temple Mount facing the Mount of Olives. The gate is sealed up because of the prophesy about the return of Jesus from the East on Mt Olives in Zechariah 14:4.
This is outside the Temple Mount where it is a Muslim burial ground. According to Jewish rituals, contact with the dead defiles and thus the cemetery is to prevent Jesus from coming.
